MainStage and Logic now work as one integrated production and live performance duo. If you know Logic Pro X then you understand the power of MainStage 3's Smart Controls. If you create MainStage patches then you get the deep new features introduced in Logic Pro X. They work together, share the same content and deliver a powerful solution for performers of all kinds of music.

This course is designed by Matt Vanacoro – in consultation with Apple – to get you up and running with MainStage fast! You learn about every aspect of MainStage, from its newly designed GUI to its powerful live performance music tools!

See how to set it up and configure your system and preferences. Then hold on tight as Matt gives you the whirlwind MainStage 3 tour. From there you're into a section that demystifies and explains Concerts, Sets and Patches. Next, you learn all about the Layout, Edit and Performance screens. Matt then shows you how to customize MainStage to build your own custom sound banks. He explains multi-keyboard setups with their assignments and mappings. He then dives deep into MIDI and audio setups where you learn how to use the Playback plugin and the cool new MIDI FX.

As this course comes to a close, you'll have everything you need to seamlessly deploy MainStage into your live performances and make it the heart of your live rig!

I like this course a lot because of several reasons. First of all, the pure technical quality of the video and especially the audio is just great. No noise, no glitches. Then there is the Matt's voice. He has a pleasant and very relaxing voice. I followed many courses on Udemy, Lynda with lots of hyper kinetic teachers. If you're following a course for hours, this is important. Then finally the course content itself is very well structured and at a good pace, not too slow, not too fast.

Excellent course to get me started. Would love to see an advanced course exploring the different midi controllers (including wind controllers) and integrating MS with other DAWs - Ableton Live.

Fantastic tutorial. Very clear explanation on all the features of Mainstage 3. The humor Matt provided made the tutorials very engaging and entertaining at the same time. The only thing I didn't see covered was the Loopback plugin. He didn't go over how that works. I didn't realize how Mainstage and Logic work together. That will be very useful for me since I have both programs which I love. Now I can be drummer and keyboard player in my band at the same time using midi controls or commands from my iPad in Logic Remote as I am at the drum set. Thanks for an awesome tutorial. I learned a lot! I wish Matt did Logic tutorials too. His pacing and explanation is spot on for a beginner learner. Now it is time to play with Mainstage! I can't wait to set up my own concert, sets, and patches. MacPro Video has the best instructors.

Matt Vanacoro always does a great job of explaining how to utilize the best features of every piece of software he uses. For anyone using Mainstage as their trusted live performance software, it got a heck of a lot better with version 3. If you have a newer macbook or macbook pro 2013-present, you are in good shape. An SSD flash drive is a plus and if your buying a new mac, get as much Ram as you can afford. Great video series!
