I want to set a general song length for multi track tunes. I mean I want to have my loops repeat for a set period of time,appr. 5 min .. so I can keep some structure..I will adjust the final time later if I want. I see how you can drag the loop and have it repeat 25 times or so but then you run out of room on the screen. How can I just set the loops repeat for a specific amount of time. It will help me stay organized.

is it better to add fx after you make a guitar track or use an fx box of some kind while you are recording..?? please clarify for both acoustic and electric and keyboards..thanks

few more questions...might as well put them in this thread... I am just experimenting here... I have 2 tracks of loops dragged out to cover 5 minutes..guitars..then I made a new track and recorded another guitar acoustic with 2 mics in stereo thru a USB interface,Steinberg... it showed on the screen as only 1 track but it did confirm that it was recording 2 track stereo... why didnt it show it as 2 separate tracks like other DAWs would?? It doesnt really matter to me but I am curious. Also, I had my interface at max but the graph showed a signal that is too small..not enough signal. Do I have my GB recording signal too low??? If thts the case I woud like to always see that signal meter on screen..where is it? You mentioned that I am really recording just the guitar even though I hear an FX on it as I play.. So how do you make that effect permanent ???

why do you think the level is so low ..as I have 2 AKG condensor mics in stereo...old but decent.. I would think that with the interface level on 3/4 it would be pushing too much...but the waveform is small ... I definitely want my tracks loud and then tone them down ,not the other way around. If I was using 1 vertical style condensor like the Neumann style 87 woud my levels be higher on acoustic guitar?? I was wondering if its just an equipment issue.. I definitely want an electric guitar direct in for some tracks and assume that the levels then woud be easier to increase. btw can I select un ordinary fx for acoustic guitar like distortion etc found under the electric guitar menu..?

I am using open backed Grados for monitoring headphones...I have been playing with electric guitar effects on a mic,d acoustic guitar..and getting feedback..I have the box checked for feedback fix....any ideas?? When you select acoustic or electric guitar you get a dozen effects to choose from.....but I bet there is a thousand other fx that I have but cant get on the screen... where are they..?? especially nice synth fx for keyboard or guitar... I would rather just have a list available really easy dropdown and select no matter what instrument I was using. I already see that its hard to incorporate acoustic guitar via mic and get really good sound for several reasons including that I cant play like I did 40 years ago. I need to get a really comfortable electric and stick mostly to electric direct in,no mics, and fx use skill. Mic,s are probably good if you have great ones and know how to use the well.Playing acoustic with fx is kind of lame. You need speed and its harder on acoustic for that.

I will just keep this thread going rather than a new one.. look at this screenshot....you can see the very small waveform on the bottom guitar track. thats acoustic guitar recorded in stereo..I was experimenting with fx... without fx it was way to quiet even if I pushed the slider up..but when I played with a nice distortion the graph stayed small but the sound was full and right up front.It seems that the fx itself is affecting the gain ...when I breathe in the mic with distortion its loud... thats the level I want this guitar but even if I dont have distortion. its silly to distort an acoustic guitar but its just for learning this DAW. But I can start to see a nice electric would sound very nice and be plenty loud as long as it had some effects. I dont know if a clean electric would be loud though..?

one more thing... if I put a small pickup on an acoustic instrument like a Baggs, can I go direct in to my interface and skip the mics? anything I should know about that..?? thanks

it seems that I modified one of my tracks and saved the mod but the original was better. I made a copy of the original to USB. Is there a copy of that original still in a folder somewhere to re instate it?? or can I use the CD 44 wave copy on USB to copy it back and over ride the bad mix I have now..?? also... I saw on a GB video that the fx choices onscreen in that video were over on the right of the screen.Mine show upon the bottom left...can I move that around????
