Hi Rounik, Thanks for responding. Here's my situations: 1) I'm missing the "Hybrid Mor" and "Hybrid Bas" files. What happens is whenever I load certain channel strip settings, particularly Synthesizers>Synth Pads> (several under this category) and Synthesizers> Motion Sequences (several under this category), and these are just some of the categories, I either get the message "Logic Pro: Plug-in 'Hybrid Mor' not available!", or the same message with "... Plug-in 'Hybrid Bas' not available!" and the channel strip shows the name of the patch with a diagonal line through it in the I/O slot. 2) Also, when I'm trying out different drum loops that are supposed to contain the Pop Kit, in the Loop Browser they play fine, but when I drag the loop into the Arrange Window I get a message "EXS24 INSTRUMENT 'Pop Kit.exs': Audio file 'TTHI11X04.aif not found!", then it loads the midi clip onto the Arrange Window correctly, but the strip loads "Crystal Pad", so I end up having to reset the strip and manually find a kit that at least comes close to the Pop Kit to play the loop (I usually substitute the Rock Kit since I can't find the Pop Kit). This leads me to the question: Is there a way to find out exactly what patch is playing in a particular midi loop in the Loop Browser (like a path or something)? Any help or insight greatly appreciated!

Rounik, Thanks for the info, I'll probably try it this weekend if i get some time. In answer to your question, yes, some time ago I did try to recover some of my old instrument samples from Logic 7, but I don’t remember exactly how i did it. A friend of mine from the “old Logic school” helped me do it. All I know now is that those sounds are present whenever I open EXS24 and click in the instruments window of the EXS. When I do that the main listings are: Sampler Instruments (which lists the sounds I got from Logic 7); Factory; and Garage Band. But no where do I see Pop Kit listed in any of those categories. Yet when I went to HD>Library>Application Support>Logic>Sampler Instruments... which then showed 12 numbered folders, in the 12th one named “Legacy Instruments”>Drum Kits, there I found a few instruments, including the Pop Kit. But none of the instruments in this folder will open up. So... to cut through all this... here’s my main question: when in the Loop Browser trying out drum loops that do play in the browser (i.e. any of the Funky Pop Drums loops in the Rock/Blues category), is there a way to find out what instrument or patch thats actually playing for that loop? Because when I drag the loop out into the Arrange Window, even though it was playing fine in the Browser, I end up getting the error messages mentioned earlier (“Pop Kit...file not found”). If it can’t find Pop Kit, what was just playing in the browser?????? (that’s why I’m wondering if I’ll run into some problems with upgrading to L9). Hope some of this is clear to you cause it isn’t to me. And thanks for your patience.

Hello... I'm trying to rewire L8 & Live 8; I'm able to play Live 8 through Logic, but can't record. I set up an Aux channel in Logic's mixer, selected Ableton from the input, created a track in the Arrange window, but when I try to record its only showing midi data - no sound. Can someone please tell me how to do this or at least what key words to use for a search that will give me the info on MPV? (I've tried searching "Logic and Ableton", "rewire Ableton", and "rewire Logic", but with only a couple of hits that didn't help. Thanks in advance for any assistance. Nathan

Hello, I recently tried to load a project that had a track that used an audio file from the Loop Browser catagory "FX". It was the sound of running water ("Forest Stream" or something like that). Anyway the file is now missing from the project, and when I went to the Loop Browser I found a number of files missing from the FX catagory - all the water, streams, and rivers files are gone. I've done searches but nothing's turned up, so now I'm going to re-load from my Logic 8 Install disk, but I'm not sure how to go about it or which particular disk to use. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Also, anyone know where all the files/loops that should be in the Browser are listed in the reference material so I can see just what's missing? I looked in the User Manual but I don't see them listed anywhere. Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi Rounik, Thanks for responding. I checked the path to ...Apple Loops>Apple, and under ILife>Sound Effects>Ambience, it seems like there used to be way more sounds, particularly dealing with streams, creeks, etc. In fact under Ambience there are only 14 items listed. I guess my main question now is, is there some place where everything that should be in the folders is listed so I can know what I'm actually missing (like a reference page in the User Manual or some place online)?

Hi Rounik, I checked and I have 28.79 GB in my Apple Loops folder. So I guess I'm missing almost 3 GB of content, right? Also, if I do end up reinstalling L-8, will it automatically remove the previous version, or do i have to first remove/trash the version I already have (I have a MacBookPro, vers 10.4.11, with 2GB memory, and my Logic8 was upgraded from L-7)?

Also, just out of curiosity, if I were to upgrade from L-8 to L-9, say if for some reason in the future I had to re-install, since I originally started with L-6 or 7 and upgraded from there, would I have to re-install all previous versions first, or do you know if the technology is now to where there's another work-around? Just wondering cause I'm thinking about getting L-9 but want to avoid the headaches I've had in the past with trying to locate missing files/content after upgrading. Hello... I'm trying to use Match EQ in Logic 8 in a similar way that's done on the "Logic's PlugIns Unplugged" video. Following the demo on the video (Chapter 12: Match EQ), I have 2 audio files of music on 2 separate stereo tracks. One is a mixdown of part of a song project I'm working on, and the other is a MP3 file of a song I want to match the eq from. I selected the track with my music, inserted Match EQ, and on the plug-in when I clicked "Template/Learn" (the button to the farthest left of the three at the bottom of the plug-in) it just turned red with no other windows opening up like it did on the video. Is there a different procedure in L-8 from what was shown in the video? How do I access the source file I want to get the EQ "fingerprint" from? Please let me know if I missed something.
