Hi. I'm using Logic Express 7 and have started working with the environment vd and have found that the module on the plain vanilla env doesn't match my software as it pertains to the metronome. When I create an audio object and assign Instrument 64 to it, the klopfgeist shows up, but the channel strip shows no signal and the fader has no effect on it's volume. When I click on the klop instrument, changing the klops presets has no effect on the sound I hear from the metronome. Am I able to manipulate my metronome sound as Martin does on Logic Pro or not? Thanks Martin for replying so quickly. I'm not having trouble hearing the metronome. My problem is that I can't adjjust the sound as you demonstrate in the tutorial. When I assign Instrument 64 to the audio object I've created in the Environment, the klopfgeist does show up, and I do hear it ticking away during playback. But it's like the sound is coming from somewhere besides my audio object channel strip because the fader doesn't turn it up or down, and changing the presets on the Klop doesn't alter the click sound. Since I'm working my way thru the tutorial step by step, I don't yet know how to target track 64 from the arrange window, and all I've got there is a bunch speaker icons with red Xes on 'em. But again, I can already hear the metronome. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi again Martin I/ve found that by cabling my Midi click object into the audio object and unchecking the "Play Metronome thru built in speakers" box I get a controllable Metronome sound. Am I going to run into weird recording problems with this approach?

Never mind. I found a checkbox in the Metronome dialog that enables the klopfgeist sound. When I checked it, I had access to the controls you were demonstrating in the ttutorial without the extra cabling.

Hi. I've got another question, this about the Environment tutorial and playing midi instruments. On the tutorial, Martin demonstrates using a Quicktime synth using a Physical Input arrow dedicated to the capslock keyboard. His PI is a large, multi arrow object with the appropriate arrows lablelled with their corresponding Midi ports. On my display, my physical input is a tiny one-arrow icon with no labels. The top arrow on mine seems to work like the sum arrow on the tutorial, but when I add more arrows to my PI by clicking on the arrow I have, they aren't labelled and don't seem to have any effect on the objects I connect them to. My Logic reference shows a Physical Input that looks like Matin's and not mine. What's the point of having all the little arrows on the PI if only the top one does anything? Thanks for any enlightenment on this!

Thanks for the reply! So... is there a purpose for the arrows underneath the top arrow which does the work? Seems strange to allow you to add multiple arrows underneath the sum arrow when they have no function?

Hi! I'm trying to set up an LE7 nulti instrument with patch names to match my Roland JUNO-D keyboard, as per the Environment Tutorial. At times it seems that the numbers Logic sends to the keyboard are re-mapped to call up the General MIDI patches that my new patch names replaced. Example: In the Arrange window, I select patch 0, which I've renamed JUNO-D Grand in the GM list. Instead of resetting my keyboard to Patch #1 which is the JUNO-D Grand patch, I get Patch #37, which is what Roland calls Piano 1, which is apparantly, what Roland has decreed to be it's GM Grand Piano patch. If I call up higher number patches that haven't been renamed yet, I get the matching GM patch on my synth that I would expect if I was addressing a strictly GM synth, instead of a synth patch that matches the number of the GM patch list. This remapping thing seems to happen for sure when I copy and paste patch names to the GM list, tho it has happened at other times too.Is this a Logic thing, or a Roland thing, and can it be overcome?

Thanks for the post, Christian. It didn't solve my problem, but I didn't know that the " -" was an access to bank changes, so the info was helpful after all. I/ve talked to Roland, and Roland keyboards need an MSB, an LSB, and a bank change message to properly do patch changes and Logic Express apparently doesn't provide for these messages, at least not directly. The Roland tech thought there might be a workaround, but didn't know what it was. Has anyone come up with this or an environment that works with a Roland Juno-D?

Christian It worked great! Thanks so much for your help. I had to go and scramble all 600+ patches into Banks based on LSB numbers instead of like instruments. I don't suppose you can specify multiple LSB numbers for the same Bank can you? At any rate, I now have a multi instrument that I can access for patch changes on the JUNO- D keyboard, and another one that calls up GM patches when I'm in too big a hurry to go patch shopping. Thanks again!
