Hope it helps ... BTW, and for anyone reading, that old Various Multis template is really outdated now ... it's got to be at least three or four years old, so there are no new synths in it. This brings up a good point ... WHERE ARE ALL THE NEW SYNTH TEMPLATES?!? Back in the day many manufacturers would supply a Logic template for new instruments, but the practice is less common these days. And in many ways, this is where a community like ours should step in! So I have a question for those interested: [b]Would it be helpful to create a page that let's our members upload custom Logic templates?[/b]

Not to mention working with audio channels and stuff ... :) ... it is an important part of Logic!

With Logic, you've already got a great sequencing and multi-track tool, so I'd personally suggest Reason. you can rewire reason into Logic and then have access to a lot of great new sound and sample banks, while using Logic to sequence. Live is more full functioned than reason, but a lot of what live has is already found in Logic. I'd personally go with all thosee extra sounds in reason. $0.02.

Okay, guantlet's down now ... :) ... who else has some opinions? I'd love to here what other's have to say, as this is a pretty interesting workflow issue that I'm sure many people are wondering about!

I don't know of a way to do it all in 1 shot. You can, however, work around it this way. Open both songs at once on your screen. Open the the environemt of the song with the automated files and drag the environment objects to channels in the arrange window of the second song. Then copy and paste the regions from song 1 to the correct channels in song 2. I *think* the automation should copy over to ... if not, you can copy and past the automation itself. Not elegant, but that will work ...

Cool ... saving the channel strip is basically the same as dragging the object over, except you have it for all of your songs. I couldn't remember if the automation would copy over when you copied the region ... if you copy a region in the same song, it copies the automation (provided the prefernces are set to do that). Guess it doesn't work between songs ... too bad ...

I don't have much experience with trilogy ... I tested it a year or so ago, but that was the limit of my experience. I do have all of the Jam packs. They are typically well produced, at 44.1 kHz 16-bit. I would recommend them, but also caution that with a product like the jam packs, everbody has them, so you're not getting anything unique. I love listening to the jam pack sounds in TV commercials these days ... in fact, there's an "oil of olay" commercial that directly lifted some of the jam pack loops I used in "The Apple Pro Training Series: Logic Pro 6" book ... At the risk of self-promoting, if you want more unique loops, go to our sister site: [url]http://www.audioBase.com[/url] [b]The main benefit of the Jam packs are the extra sample-based instruments you get[/b] ... for example, your instrument presets for all of the garageband instruments will increase every time you instal a jam pack ... in the case of the "drum Kits" instrument, this is REALLY useful ... probably worth the price of the jam pack alone.
