Re: First Look At Logic 8
Yeah, I remember that class well ... It was at the beginning of September when the Berkeley School of Music students got back into sesssion. That was a long time ago ... when I was Apple's Lead trainer for Logic ... It's actually a funny story ... I got to the class in Boston on the first morning and found that Apple did not send the controller keyboards needed for the session. We required MIDIMan Oxygen 8's (at the time) to control the lessons. This was pretty typical, but it still caused me a bit of panic. No keyboards had arrived, so I went deep into the Boston office to find some help. As I passed through the first door, I saw something that i must admit, I thought was a hallucination ... there, llined up against the wall, sat HUNDREDS of Midi Man Oxygen 8s, freshly wrapped in their boxes! "Whoo-hoo!" I thought, "I'll just grab a few of these for the class ..." Mmmm ... NOPE! Turns out the Berkeley School of Music students ALL got Oxygen 8 keyboards as part of their tutition. They also got Mac Power Books, Propellerhead Reason, and a host of other stuff. I remember thinking how fun it would be to go to that school, because you got soo much free stuff ... But the funny thing was, we did the first day of the class using the capslock keyboard, because we didn't have any controllers ... Glad To See You at macProVideo.com KC! Glad to hear back from you Martin. I enjoyed that class and your company at lunch as well. It was strange to see all of those Berkeley students walking out of an Apple facility with non-Apple music software. I recently had 2 of my Logic students enroll at Berkeley. I made sure they have Logic on their computer! Ha Ha! Logic education has come a long way. I remember back in the fall of 2002, I had a conversation with David Dvorin when he was at Emagic. We discussed an education curriculum for Logic in schools. I was trying at the time to set up Logic training at an Apple training center here in Pennsylvania. Now I'm seeing Logic classes being offered at some Universities here. Your team has had a lot to do with that. You've helped to make my job easier because your training books and videos have shown people the power of Logic in Multimedia, not just music. It's been a long, uphill battle, but things are changing for the better. Keep those books and videos coming! Do you still do House music? Hope so. Don't stop. Love to hear some. After I get caught up with my Logic Studio studies and recertification, I would definitely contribute any help and Logic knowledge to our fellow Logic users on your forum. We are a Brotherhood, loyal to the bone for our Logic. I have been since using Notator on the Commodore 64 computer! Good to know you Martin. Looking forward to seeing the new videos. Take care.

Martin, ive lived and breathed on the MPV tutorials for Logic Pro 7, they have been my bible, I know its been only out for a week, but is it your feeling that Logic 8 is significantly better than Logic Pro 7 in terms of the final output of music? Im just curious as Ive invested a huge amount of learning on LP 7 and have got it just to where i need it. Ive pre ordered the Logic 8 101 tutorials so ill see what they bring. Thanks once again to you and your team for what are, I think, the best video tutorials out there. Best Gerald www.nickandgerald.com

Well that sucks, now I have to buy new videos because I have to learn Logic Express 8 now. Just finished watching Logic 101 and was starting to understand LE 7, but now it's back to square one.
