Bitwig Studio 3 introduces an open modular environment called The Grid. Discover the modular sound design possibilities offered by the Poly Grid device in this course by Bitwig certified trainer Thavius Beck!
Thavius Beck is an electronic musician/producer/programmer as well as an electronic music educator who has worked with various artists ranging from Nine Inch Nails to Saul Williams to singer/songwriter Skylar Grey.
If you like to have total creative freedom in your sound design, you will love Bitwig Studio 3! The Grid lets you create your own synths and effects by connecting modules exactly the way you want. In other words, it's like having a full modular studio in a box. In this course, artist and trainer Thavius Beck explores the sound design possibilities offered by the Poly Grid device.
First, Thavius describes the main modules and explains how to connect the Oscillator, Envelope and Filter modules to create a basic bass patch. You learn about the different types of envelopes and other modulation sources.
One of the strengths of Bitwig Studio 3's Grid is that it is completely open and flexible, allowing you to create your own signal flow. This is clearly demonstrated as Thavius patches the modules in multiple ways to create a polyphonic patch and a lead synth. Continuing with the course, you learn about waveshaping, creating drum sounds, creating patterns directly in the Grid, using the Noise module and a lot, lot more...
So join trainer and producer Thavius Beck in this 25-tutorial course, and start to build your own cool synths with Bitwig Studio 3!

I liked how each new technical aspect introduced is motivated by a creative idea. This is the second course by Thavius I followed after the Bitwig complete beginner course and it's been great fun again.

Wow! The grid demystified ! GREAT video, awesome tune and thanks once again Thavius.
The Grid seems to be everything I was looking for in Reaktor- but easy.

Great course! This really helped getting started Thavius. Obviously this is infinite. As someone else mentioned, another version with more of the obscure modules would be very welcome. Some of it looks close-ish to things like Max/MSP - but it'd be fun to have an exploration of some other options. Obviously easy enough to try them, look at the help etc., but it always is good to see things in practice and understand. That being said - this is really a must for anyone who wants to get a grip on the possibilities! Thank you!

Does anybody teach Bitwig better than Thavius? I don’t think so! Grid is awesome and Mr. Beck explains it so clearly that even someone new to “modular†will get it in one viewing.

Thavius, always impressed with your courses. The grid is amazing. I hope for part two that dives deeper into some of the other modules.
