Hi Alex -
A quick search for that error message phrase "premiere pro proxy error selected preset does not support the audio channel type of the clip" suggested that that's not uncommon, though discussions often got into a lot of very specific detail.. One recurring theme seemed to be the Proxy file and the original file not having the same number of audio channels..? I'm not a Premiere user myself (I'm really an audio guy), so I can't offer you answers, but hopefully an experienced Premiere expert will have some advice..
