    New Course: "Motion: The Basics"
Apple's Motion is a powerful application for making animations and visual effects for video and film. It's a very deep and flexible program with lots of creative possibilities, and there's a lot to take in, especially for new users. But Iain Anderson's latest course "Motion: The Basics" is here to help prospective Motion users master the basics -- and more! The course starts out with a tour of Motion's user interface and all its different panels, like the Library and the Inspector. It shows how to create a new Motion project, and how to choose the right settings for projects. Then, it digs into different ways to import elements (photo, video, audio, and even Photoshop files), and how to edit their properties in the inspector. Key concepts like Masking, grouping, and blending are also covered in great detail. After covering the basics, there's a deep dive into Animation, including using keyframes and behaviors, triggering Motion with audio, and the many uses of replicators and particle emitters. Finally, the course shows how to export a Motion project into a movie for use into any editing program, and export it as a Generator with Drop Zones for use with Final Cut Pro. Motion is deep, but this course promises to reveal its power to anyone who;'s ready to jump into the world of effects and Animation.
