    Livetype: questions, questions, questions!
hi everybody, this is my first thread. My pleasure. I've started using LT yesterday, I find it very easy but I have some questions. 1- Are the effects adjustable or not? I mean, is it possible to modify some parameters like position, movement, etc. with keyframes? 2- Is it possible to export the frames of the image sequence with transparency? I would create animated white titles over the beginning of the movie so I need to have the same transparency that I see on the canvas on the final frames. 3- When everything is ready, I first render and then export the job since I need an image sequence. Does exist a way to do it in a single action? Otherwise I will need a lot of time to do the 2 actions. Sorry for my english, cheers to everybody Lo

Hi Lo! Welcome to the macProVideo.com forums! Regarding your questions: 1. Yes! This is a pretty big topic though! If you refer to chapte 7 of the manual (Visit the help menu) you can read a lot more about it. 2. Of course ... even better, there is no need to export if you are using Final Cut ... just drag the LiveType project file itself (the .ipr file) into your final cut timeline! We use this feature to do all of our overlays. 3. Why do you need an image sequence? What video editor are you using ... if Final Cut, see response #2 ... :)

Hi Lo Though I am not quite sureif I understood you right, but I'll give it a go: Yes you can animate the effect using keyframe and other methods (check chapter 7, as Martin advised). But on a more generic subject, it may be better for you to import your footage to LiveType or even better, if you have motion, you can do wonders there, also using LiveType. I normally use Livetype to produce my animated text, then import it into Motion and add more effects and then export it (or dragging) into FCP or even iMovie. Good Luck.

Hi Hisham and Martin, thanks for helping me. I am preparing this titles for my compositor, who works with Combustion. I don't want to import the sequence, first because it will load the render a lot (it is a 2K-full scanned sequence), second because there are a lot of complications due to LUT and color correction (I do not want to render the final sequence, I don't want it on my responsability...). I only would prepare the titles with transparency, so he will import my titles on the sequence and render the whole stuff on Combustion. You know, I am a poor, little matte painter who works with Photoshop, my best are not-animated graphics... ;) I am not so able with FC, I just use it sometimes to do little clips. However, I am going to read chapter 7 and try Motion. They told me is an exciting sware. hugs Lo

Hey Lo, Yeah, as hirsham points out, animating is far more rewarding in motion ... :) ... However, for title,s livetype rocks, so you have the correct workflow there! We use it exclusively for the overlays in our tutorial vids. (Speaking of which, we really do need to get a livetype tutorial out ... hmmm). Anyway, to get transparency in your exports, it's a bit of a strange process. i don't have livetype with me at the moment, but I think you choose Edit > Project Settings (or something like that). Here you can set up the project you are working on, including the resolution, frame rate, and there's a checkbox somewhere near the botton that says "transparency" or "display background" or something like that ... I can't exactly remember, but it's in there that you make the setting. Hope that helps!
