Hi Simon, When I switched to Mac I bought the jampacks to use with garageband before I decided to shell out for Logic Pro. To be honest, I think they are O.K, but there is a slight issue with some of the levels in the orchestral instruments (way to high) but that is not a biggy. As Martin said, the loops are everywhere. East West put out some massive libraries of Apple Loops and REX files which IMHO are of a higher quality than the Jampacks with huge variety.

Jumping out of the frying pan into the fire if you go the M audio route in terms of reliability. You will also find that it doesn't work as seamlessly with Logic.

Latency is the time lag between inputting a note and hearing a sound . What is actually happening when you play back a track? I have the jampacks installed and they have no impact whatsoever. That is, the time lag between me inputting a note from my keyboard to hearing a sound as processed through the midi input, soundcard and sound generating software is not affected at all. To adjust the latency you are experiencing you need to go to audio preferences and adjust the buffer size. You need to play around with this till you find the minimum latency without comprimising audio output. You should be able to achieve a latency of 5 ms or less with your setup.

Hi, Given this information, is there any advantage of apple loops over acidised wave files in loop purchases? I ask BEFORe I shell out for a few loop collections since obviously the acidised loops have wider scope for software usage and if there is no real advantage in Apple Loops I might go that way.
