Hi Rounik You are right about HDV and FW, I believe the will be some development there as HDV becomes more commoditised. Maybe one day we'll find on a Mac not only a FW or FW800 but a FW HD with Bluray HDMI interface (or something). I can see why MacBook Pros will always be behind their MacPro Parents, but having said that, they are still a fantastic product and quite enjoyable. Cheers Hisham

Hi there Another option you may want to look at, if you have a camera, you can record the DVD on your miniDV tape in the camera ("dubbing"). Then you will a tape with the footage on and you can log & capture it like if you have filmed it directly. This is probably the best option for you that will not cost you anything and give you the flexibility to edit. Regards, Hisham

This sounds like a capture issue/setting. One thing you can do is first see if the tape plays without a problem in a camera (without renting it). It might be a timecode problem or a problem within dvx cpturing 24p settings. Does it stop everytime in the same spot? Fast forward and capture another segment. If the problem still exist then it is not a time-code issue but more dvx & the tape capturing. I am not familiar with dvx but see if there are settings there for your tape and 24p ...

as I don't know exactly the look you want, you may want to experiment with some filters at the same time. One single filter may not make it.

check the AV settings and your external video options. You may also running out of RAM.

This may be because of RAM. Sometimes you can't have enough. Close all apps and dedicate as much RAM to Motion as you can. Sometimes playing portion of your composition is better than all. Set in and out points and render, then play back.

Hi there, when you camera is connected and in active VTR, choose capture from the file menu of FCP (or command 8). With the capture window appearing you can pretty much control your camera from FCP, suc as setting in/out point, defining clips you want to capture in a batch, rather than capturing everthing (good & bad). Hi Scott, well if it is only 3 seconds and you are not fizzed about exact arrow location, apart from following at player, I would use FCP. You can draw an arrow in any application, and bring it in FCP as a graphic. Place it at the in-time you require and start keyframing the motion (center item) properties against your sportman.
