Great stuff, glad you figured out how to get rid of the noise with the pad. How high are you setting the gain knob on the Warm Audio. Bringing it up too high may introduce some noise. Which is why when you use the pad to attenuate the gain it gets rid of the noise.

Is the CD for the mastering house? If so, yes you can burn a CD with your iMac. Do you have a CD Burning application like Toast. The simplest and cheapest way is to pile a whole lot of mattresses around you. This will 'deaden' the sound so there are no reverberations being recorded. Alternatively you can look at building homemade bass traps, diffusers and absorption panels for your room. All depends on what your budget is. If you wish to build your own acoustic treatment. Definitely start looking at filling the absorption panels and bass traps with rockwool. This is a great insulating and absorption material.
