The third course in the series on PreSonus' Studio One 5 is out -- "Studio One Mixing and Mastering" follows up on Josh Carney's Studio One 5 courses on Audio & MIDI Recording & Editing. The course starts out explaining how to import audio and organize a project, how to do a rough mix, and how to utilize the various metering tools included in Studio One. The differences between grouping, busses and VCA channels are detailed, and the the course gets into using the FX plugins -- the Pro EQ2, the Compressor, the Fat Channel XT, delay, reverb, etc -- which are demonstrated on acoustic drums, guitar, bass, synth and vocals. Also covered are automation and finalizing the mix, as well as mastering in Studio One's unique Project Page. Along with the two previous courses, "Studio One Mixing and Mastering" rounds out basics courses, providing the knowledge to take a project in Studio One 5 to completion.
