Losing music after I hit record
I have converted a YouTube video to MP3 of a karaoke version of a song. It plays just fine but when I click record the music does not play or stops playing. I would very much like to record my vocals onto the Looped MP3 I shared with Garageband. I am using a Shure MV88+ with my iPad Air (3rd Generation) IOS 13.5.1. I also have headphones plugged into the back of the Shure Mic and monitoring is turned On and turned all the way up. I can hear my voice through the headphones. I am very very very new to using Garageband and I've been watching YouTube videos to learn how to do things but haven't found anything to help me figure this issue out. I'm trying to record demo's to submit onto Bandmix and send to bands looking for vocalists. I have labels interested in hearing my demos so I am anxious to get this to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Losing music after I hit record
I only have GarageBand for macOS here, but in that I'd put the audio from the video on one track and record the vocal onto another track, then Export both tracks as the finished file. As long as nothing is soloed you should be able to hear both tracks as the vocal is being recorded. Since I don't have the iOS version I've attached a course on GB iOS which might be of some help. Check out videos 15 [below] and 17 * https://www.macprovideo.com/video/garageband-for-ios-101-explained-and-explored/17-17-recording-audio?afid=E470KLQ7r9 In video 17 there seem to be some kind of Monitor setting that might be relevant..? Also, monitoring from the USB mic might be an issue -- can you monitor directly from the iPad [headphones plugged into iPad] instead?
