The latest macOS Catalina (10.15) will be released soon, but audio/music people should probably not jump in right away! A growing litany of audio/DAW manufacturers are warning of incompatibilities, and telling their customers to hold off until they can update their products for full compatibility. I would guess that in many cases this may have to do with the fact that Catalina will no longer support 32-bit code—most applications now use 64-bit coding, but there are probably bits and pieces of older code in many DAWs and plug-ins. (Mojave offers periodic warnings of future incompatibility—I get them sometimes when opening Pro Tools!) Of course most studios and DAW users already know not to be the first ones on the block to do any major updates, but newer users should take heed. The best strategy before updating is to check with the makers of *all* software for definite word on compatibility, and when they begin to appear, bookmark any (reputable) sites—especially music/DAW-related sites—that provide Catalina compatibility charts.
