New Course: Arturia FX Collection 2 Explored
Arturia's original FX Collection bundled 15 plug-ins that model classic hardware effect processors -- the FX Collection 2 adds additional models to the Collection, for a total of 22 effects, which combine faithful emulation of vintage hardware effects with extra modern features, and even a few brand new FX of Arturia's own design. This new course -- Arturia FX Collection 2 Explored -- includes all of the FX processors -- the original 15 plus the 7 new ones added in version 2. The course starts with an overview of the common features shared by these effects, like the toolbar, the advanced panel and the preset browser. It then goes through all the plug-ins by category -- Preamps, Compressors, Delays, Filters, and Reverbs, plus the new Modulation and Bus Processor plug-ins. It covers the Preamp plug-ins, which provide the sound of analog EQ and preamp edge from Neve, Trident, and Telefunken, which add a subtle vintage flavor to recordings. The vintage Compressors are next, with a thorough look at the specific features of the UREI 1176, dbx 165, and Gates STA-LEVEL emulations. Next up are the three Delay effects included in the collection -- a tape delay (an emulation of the classic Roland Space Echo RE-201), an analog delay (an emulation of the Electro-Harmonix Memory Man delay/chorus pedal), and an Arturia original, the Delay ETERNITY, a digital delay with a modern design. This is followed by the Filter plug-ins, which offer up the filter sections from three famous synthesizers -- the Minimoog, Oberheim SEM, and Matrix-12 -- along with added modulation for more creative effects. Next up are the three reverbs -- models of a vintage Plate and Spring reverb, plus an advanced Digital Reverb of Arturia's own design. The new course then goes over the 4 new Modulation plug-ins -- models of two Roland chorus effects (the Dimension-D and the chorus effect from the Juno 6 keyboard); a model of the Mu-Tron Bi-Phase phaser; and the BL-20, which is an emulation of the rare Bel BF-20 flanger. Finally, the 3 Bus Processors are covered in detail -- these are designed to be used primarily on the master stereo bus (though they can be used anywhere). They include the EQ SITRAL-295, a model of a vintage Siemans EQ; the COMP DIODE-609, an emulation of the classic Neve 33609 diode-bridge compressor; and BUS FORCE, an original channel strip plug-in of Arturia's own design, which includes EQ, Filter, Compressor, and Saturation FX. Just like the original FX Collection plug-ins, all of the new processors include both faithful emulations of the vintage hardware plus additional modern controls and features for greater utility, and everything is explored in detail in the course. Arturia markets these plug-ins as "Effects You'll Actually Use", and this course should help to get the most out of these highly useful processors in the Arturia FX Collection 2.
