Sampler, Quick Sampler, and Auto Sampler
Logic 10.5 brought a major overhaul to Logic's sampling tools. The venerable EXS24 -- the little sampler that could -- is gone, at least in name, replaced by a new sampler called, simply, Sampler, plus some additional sample-based instruments and tools, including Quick sampler, a single-sample instrument for quick and easy sample & loop creation, and Auto Sampler, a tool for automating the creation of multisampled instruments from your favorite hardware and software instruments. Add to that a new iteration of Drum Machine Designer that utilizes the new Quick Sampler, and you have a dizzying array of new sample-based tools at your disposal. It's enough to make even verteran Logic users blink, but that's where MPV's latest course comes in.. The new Sampler, Quick Sampler, and Auto Sampler course covers all of Logic's new sampling tools from A to Z, offering a thorough introduction to all of the new sampling-related instruments and plug-ins in Logic 10.5 and beyond. First off, you'll learn that Sampler is still really EXS under the hood, fully-backward compatible with all EXS sounds but with a slick new interface and additional capabilities that make the creation and editing a sample instruments much easier and more efficient. The course delves into details on the new five-pane interface that consolidates all of Sampler's features, including the improved subtractive synthesis section and expanded modulation options, and the new Mapping and Zone editing displays that provide graphical arrangement of Key & Velocity Zones. The course also covers the powerful new drag & drop sample import features -- intelligent algorithms that can perform most of the heavy lifting of sample import and mapping. There's also a look at Auto Sampler—brought over from MainStage—which further automated the process of creating a sampled instrument from a favorite hardware or software instrument/ And for those who want to quickly make a sample instrument or loop player out of a single sample, the course delves into the workings and applications of Quick Sampler—Sampler's little brother—including its ability to slice up a loop and export MIDI trigger sequences for creative editing. Quick Sampler is the primary engine for the new version of Drum Machine Designer—a flexible & expandable Track Stack instrument—and that's also covered, completing the coverage of everything sampled-related. So if you're one of those longtime Logic users who've been waiting patiently for a upgrade to EXS, or a new Logic user who's ready to take sampling to the next level, check out Logic 10.5 and the new Sampling course, and jump into the brave new world of Sampler, Quick sampler, and Auto Sampler.
