Nov 12th, 2021, 03:55
The latest version of Logic Pro adds powerful Dolby Atmos tools designed to take your mix beyond (and above!) stereo. Josh Carney's new course "Dolby Atmos & Spatial Audio Explored" covers the ins & outs of these new features.
Logic's new Dolby Atmos implementation makes it possible to create, mix, and export immersive 3D mixes, and it doesn't even require a multi-speaker setup , because Logic allows for monitoring the surround mix binaurally with regular stereo headphones. This new course explores all the new spatial tools included in Logic Pro.
The course starts out by defining and explaining the terminology and concepts of surround sound in general, the various surround formats, and the difference between Immersive Audio, Dolby Atmos, and spatial audio, including the physics of binaural hearing. The course shows how to position sound around the listener using Surround Beds, 3D Objects, and the expanded surround mixer and panners. it covers the updated plug-ins that are now optimized to work in Dolby Atmos [like Space Designer, Tremolo, and Remix FX], and even demonstrates a workaround for using 3rd-party stereo plugins in surround mode. Finally, the distribution standards for submitting a Dolby Atmos mix are covered, and the course shows how to actually upload a finished Atmos mix and share it on streaming platforms.
This course is a must-see for anyone who's ready to jump into the immersive world of surround sound and Atmos, and master all those powerful new features in Logic Pro.
