I did a guitar track then copied it to a separate track then took that track and edited it in VariAudio and made it a harmony but now the edited guitar tracks edits are now on the main guitar track and I do not know why or how to fix it so the edited part is only on that part...thanks for any help.

Hi Doug - It sounds like maybe your separate track might not have actually been an independent track, but some kind of duplicate/alias of the original track..? I'm a Logic user not a Cubase user, but Logic & Cubase are similar in many ways, and I know that in Logic it's possible to have Regions that are aliases of other Regions -- aliases are not independent Regions, so if one is edited they're all changed -- is it possible in Cubase that something like that may have happened here..? Another possibility that occurs to me is that maybe you somehow rendered the VariAudio edits, changing the original audifoile (which would then be affected on all tracks)..? That seems less likely, but perhaps not impossible.. I've attached one of our Cubase courses to this thread -- maybe a true Cubase guru will be able to provide a more definitive answer..

Yes it is a duplicate track , the edits affect that track even if I use pieces on a different track the edits affect original track no matter where and what I do with it. Hmmm

There must be a way to copy an audio region to a new independent track and edit it (even with VariAudio) without affecting the original track. If you're creating the duplicate track with a menu command or shortcut, maybe just try creating a new track from scratch and option-dragging the region(s) to the new track -- in just about every DAW I've ever seen that would be a region/track that could be edited independently. I'm sure if I had a copy of Cubase in front of me I could suss it out, but maybe there'll be a section in the attached course that mentions how to do it.. Of course, the usual troubleshooting steps (besides the standard hard shutdown/restart) would involve trying the same thing in other Cubase sessions with other audiofiles, to see if it's your work method causing it, if it's consistent behavior, or if it's a problem with that particular project..
