Jan 6th, 2021, 08:20
Polymer is a "hot-swappable power synth", according to Bitwig -- it's a hybrid modular synth, where you can swap out different types of oscillators, filters, and envelopes, and create customizable synth architectures via its graphic environment. Thavius Beck's new course "Bitwig Studio Polymer Explored" digs into the possibilities.
The course starts with a tour of the instrument, covering basic functions and structure, followed by a deep explanation of the different Oscillator options and controls, including the brand new Wavetable oscillator. Next, there are sections on creating patches [with the unison mode and the Sub oscillator], and using the numerous filter and envelope options to shape and control your sound. Thavius even shows how to get under the hood and add more modular possibilities, wrapping up with lots of practical sound design examples.
Bitwig users will definitely want to check out this course to become masters of the creative complexities of Polymer.
