Its an okay course. The presenter is seems fairly knowledgable and presents in a clear and unfussy manner. The course only creates two patches from scratch. I feel a bit more time could have been spent on patch creation examples if the presenter was a little faster in his delivery, and didnt waste his time explaining basic computer or music functions - stuff that owners of a DAW and VST surely know by this point.

Really nice overview of Native Instruments unique sound generator 'Skanner XT' by G.W. Childs IV. I would definitely recommend this one if you want to create some warped sounds and textures.

Sound design, Native Instruments has some very powerful tools, G.W. Childs IV one that proved this fact to me in this insightful tutorial.

The course takes the form, for the most part, of the construction of four patches: a lead, a bass, a pad/stringsynth, and an effect. The course may lose you a bit with the first two: they are wholly unremarkable and, in fact, gloss over most of what makes Skanner a cool little device. Fortunately, the third patch sounds fantastic, and the fourth covers a lot of ground, throwing in basically every function Skanner has to offer (as you may guess it doesn't sound great, but it glances close enough to really good ideas that you could take it somewhere better).
I came into this rather aware of Skanner, looking for a refresh, and I found it. Certainly not perfect, but it serves its function by the end.
Recommended.

One of the best NI sample tutorial ever. hopefully G.W. Childs IV will be doing more tutorials on the other native instruments sample. this way is a much better explanation on how to start using them. Great video.

I got Skanner XT,in Native Instruments recent sale, and was immediatly impressed
G.W's tutorial is great, going into detail the inner workings of this great and mad synth.
Ideal for me as a newcomer to Native Instuments, but also great for anyone purchasing Skanner, and wanting to know more about this unique synth
Well done G.W

This course delves deep into Skanner and heavier synthesis technique. Consider synthesis courses before this course. Unexplained Skanner setting changes between continuing lessons are distracting.

This was an excellent beginner course that covers all the controls and functions of the synth. It takes you though creating your own patches and it is hands on right from the beginning.

Really interesting look into Skanner. This will help you get your head around what this synth/sampler does, which is not intuitive. Good examples on how to create sounds and what to try next.
