This first course in our Audio Concepts series, is all about the basics of sound and audio. It touches on all the concepts and terminology that audio pros need to know as they dive into into typical, everyday studio activities. This includes the physical properties of sound waves: Amplitude, Frequency and Waveshape which are the elements of sound that are creatively manipulated in recording and mixing.

It also covers sound measurements and demystifies the terminology and acronyms you see in plug-in graphs and mixers, like Hz, kHz, dB and dBfs, that help us find just the right settings for particular tasks. There's even a section on how our human hearing works. This is the basis for understanding the psychoacoustic perceptions that underpin many classic studio techniques and effects. Then there's a very brief but serious look at hearing protection which is a very important but often overlooked topic.

The course was very informative. However, the frequency part of the course was still difficult to grasp.

Some areas within the course was confusing and should be broken down more such the topic of complex soundwaves

This is a superb "deep digging" in the sometimes complex subject of audio. I should say extremely well explained from basics to advanced level (at least for me). I felt a need to pause, take notes and skip back many times to make sure I fully grasp these very important concepts. I'll surely come back to this course to recap in the future. Cannot express enough how grateful I am for you making these invaluable tutorials.

I have a pretty solid background in much of the information presented here, yet still found a tidbit here and there that was either new or gave me a different perspective than I had previously had. Material is presented extremely well with excellent graphics and clear explanations of the concepts being covered. Thanks so much for the fantastic course!!

I enjoyed learning the scientific specificity of sound waves and everything. But I feel like its really crammed into short videos and/or needs to be broken down into simpler explanations.
