I have also been watching this product closely and really interested in it. A few things have worried me about it though. As far as I can tell the internal sounds are pretty limited and the internal sampling is extremely limited. I was still interested in the MIDI implementation though. A friend of mine recently got one, but as he lives far from me, I haven't gotten a chance to put my hands on it yet. He tells me that as far as he can tell, there are some problems with it as a MIDI controller as well... But he is still investigating. Does software count as gear? One of the greatest pieces of software I have seen in a while just got released for Mac. Snapper. I have been using it for over a week now I really don't know how I existed before having this swiss army knife of audio. There is a 100 day demo you can download, so check it out for yourself. There are also some videos up explaining what it does on the company's website. I don't mean to sound like a commercial, but this software is really useful, allowing you to perform tons of audio mayhem right in Mac OS X's finder. I have been having a blast loading up field recordings and ripping little bits out of them and throwing them into Live or Logic's ultrabeat.
