Main Stage
What do I use as a midi controller for guitar rigs on main stage? I can't see using the laptop to adjust the settings in real time. What is Jim using to adjust his effects? Thanks. JC

Hi JC, Welcome to the forums :) What MIDI Controller do you have? I don't know what controller Jim uses, but any MIDI footswitches, pedals, and infact almost all USB/MIDI controllers with knobs, buttons, faders, can all be used with Mainstage... as Mainstage allows the user to map a virtual knob, fader etc that you make to a physical one on a MIDI Controller. There are many to choose from with different features and within a variety of budgets too. A good place to start would be to think about whether you want a MIDI keyboard & controls, and if so how many keys... or just a controller with knobs/faders/buttons etc. Also, what would you like the controller to..er..control? e.g. bypassing a plug-in would be better to map to a button. Controlling the level of the gtr channel strip would go well with a fader. Adjusting the pan would map well to a knob... these are just suggestions... How do you wish to control Mainstage? With your hands, feet, or both? Lastly, what is your budget? There are plenty of control and Keyboard surfaces available you might wish to check out in the meantime: Korg M-audio Yamaha Thanks :) Rounik

I have an Axiom 61. That's fine for keyboard patches, but I want to use a foot controller for guitar patches, like a pedal board or something, but I was wondering if there was a USB pedal board out there that would give me realtime use of these Main Stage Patches. I can't see stopping mid-phrase on a guitar part to reach over and press a button on the Axiom. For instance, what is Jim using? JC

Hi JC, I don't know what pedals Jim uses. But, any pedal or footswitch that transmits MIDI would be good... preferably one that transmits MIDI note ON/OFF to make it easy to switch patches accurately. Here are a few examples: http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/Musical%5FInstrument%5FAccessories/Footswitches%5Fand%5FControllers/ http://www.philrees.co.uk/products/footctrl.htm http://www.musiciansbuy.com/YAMAHA_MFC10_CONTROLLER.html I don't have much experience with these personally, so I'd recommend doing a deeper search on MIDI + footswitch.... or popping down to your local music retailer and seeing what's on offer. If anyone else has experience with or sugestions for midi footswitches do chime in :) Cheers Rounik

Hi. How do you connect the FCB1010 to your mac? I have both a Mac Pro and a MacBook Pro. Any recommendations?
